Your Seat, His Table
Is This Complacency or Contentment?

There may be nothing more dangerous than people that go through motions but never move forward! Complacency is the sense of being satisfied and seeing no need for repentance or improvement as complacent souls are deeply unaware of present dangers and deficiencies. It is that lukewarm commitment to God that satan uses to destroy souls. Contentment, however, is awareness and appreciation of the sometimes unseen but always fulfilling presence of God. Experience with Jesus teaches us to keep moving, improving, and striving for the mark of the prize of the high calling. Paul had seen the extremes of lack and the greatness of grace and learned that Jesus was fully present and fully able in and through it all! That’s how we know contentment from complacency! We count not ourselves to have apprehended. We keep pressing and rising!
